Google Updates Picasa Photo Editing Software

Google releases Picasa 3.5, an updated version of its free photo editing software. With Picasa you can easily edit as well as organize your images, and sync and you can also share them with Picasa Web Albums and Google's online photo-sharing site.

The most noteworthy toting up in this release is an improved version of Picasa's people-tagging feature; previously it is only available in Picasa Web Albums. Further improvements include Google Maps integration for faster as well as easier geotagging, a smarter keyword-tagging interface, and added importing options.

When you first launch Picasa 3.5, it scans each and every image on your computer and it also groups similar faces. You can then go all the way through and add name tags one at a time or in bulk. If you previously use name tags in your Picasa Web Albums, you can log into your Google account and you can also download that information to the Picasa application (Tools-> Download Name Tags from Picasa Web Albums).

Signing in also means you can use your Google contacts list while tagging people. Picasa will automatically generate an album for each person you tag.

Geotagging is very much easier in 3.5. In the Places panel, a Google map displays the locations of your geotagged photos. To affix location information to photos, you can seek directly in the panel and add a pin, or drag and drop an image or images on the map from your library.

Picasa's import features have also been very much improved. At present it is possible to upload images directly to Picasa Web Albums from your camera, iPhone, or else memory card. Before importing you can pick which images to include or exclude. For instance, you could go for to upload all of the images to your hard drive, but only starred images to the Web.

This update is meant for both Mac as well as PCs, and is the first Mac version of Picasa to drop the beta label.

Google updates - Chrome browser to stable 3.0

Google has updated their Chrome browser this week towards a stable version 3.0, and also announced that an official Mac version will be obtainable before the end of the year.

Chrome has been on the market for about one year now, and it has seen quick upgrades, mostly speed tweaks as well as compatibility updates. In contrast, Mozilla Firefox has been approximately for over five years and is currently in working version 3.5.

The browser market is still subjugated by Internet Explorer, which (with combining versions 6, 7, 8), has around 67 percent market share. Firefox, Chrome as well as Safari have been taking share gradually however, and IE's share has ruined from 95 percent in 2003. Chrome currently has just fewer than 3 percent market share.

"If at the two-year birthday we are not at least 5 percent in market share, I will be extremely disappointed. And if at the three year birthday we are not at 10 percent, I will be extremely disappointed," says Chrome Engineering Director Linus Upson.

In spite of his public goals, Upson says Google's internal goals are even steeper.

In addition the standard speed tweaks and interface updates, version 3.0 also brings "themes," which will permit users to customize the browser.

One of the most imperative obstacles for Chrome has been merely just breaking into the market. Internet Explorer comes pre-installed in each and every Windows machines, and lots of users simply go on the browser they are well-known with.

In recent times, Google made a deal with Sony to have the Chrome browser pre-installed in a few VAIO laptops. Google says it is planning alike deals with other manufacturers.
